From Kanata North, take in the scenery of Ottawa's western greenbelt, then head to Stittsville for a coffee and snack before heading back to the starting point. Take in a spa treatment and gourmet meal nearby. 61 km
This is a hybrid route of sorts. It pieces together some lovely sections of pathway riding with a bit of on road riding. The northern section is almost all paved pathway, but the unpaved parts through Greenbelt forest and the light gravel pathway out to Stittsville are manageable on even skinny tires.
Pay close attention to the various turns and entrances/exits from side paths during the first 25 km, and then again as you finish up the ride on the way back to Leggett Drive.
For this ride, as with ride C, you may want to park at the Richcraft Recreation Complex, unless you come out to Kanata by bus using the Rack and Roll option.
Quitters Coffee in the old centre of Stittsville is a must for refueling. They welcome cyclists, offering a good bike rack at the courtyard behind the café, free water refills, and a good, clean washroom for clients. I thanked them by buying a cool drink and a great energy pastry!
